La Grave, La Meije, a Magic spot
Téléphérique des Glaciers de La Meije – opening December 22 / 2007, to may 1st / 2008.
Since 1993 , Snowlegend has been offering snowboard, ski and telemark classes in La Meije - La Grave.
Don't try to compare this resort to any other, La Grave is in a class of its own. In a remote corner of the Hautes Alps; Oisans is the largest mountain group in the Alps. At 3986 meters, La Meije may not be the highest peak, but it does have one of the longest vertical drops in the world (2150 meters; 7100 feet).
Two lifts take you up to an altitude of 3650 meters. From there, the number of possible descents makes La Grave probably largest untamed, off-piste site in Europe. The combination of North and Northeast facing slopes and high altitude means that snow conditions are often deep powder and are excellent from Christmas to May.
How can you miss this opportunity to ride with the pros in such a breathtaking environment ?

Minimum age: 18 years old.
Required level: Snowboarders: 5 seasons minimum
Skiers and telemarkers: skiing everywhere or comfortable on red slopes.
Days off possible : to rest or in case of bad weather or in the event the lifts are closed due to high risk of avalanche or too much wind. If La Meije is closed, we will go riding at Sere Chevalier, Chazelet, 2 Alpes, Auris or Alpe d'Huez.

SNOWLEGEND EXPERIENCE IN ARAVIS RANGE
Dates : 15 to 28 January 2008 (Full moon the 19th)
Aravis range is between Mont Blanc & Annecy lake, north west facing, 1100 to 2616 m.This limestone range stretch on 30 kilometers & take advantage for the best snowing up ! In french Alps between 1500 à 2500 meters of altitude (météo France statistics). The lifts of La Clusaz, Merdassier, Croix-Fry connect quickly the most popular freeride: l’épaule, bois de la Ferriaz, Borderan, La Creuse, Porte des Aravis, Bellachat, Paccaly.... Hike & / or rope down give access to secret freeride: Belle Inconnue, le Clocher, la Combe à Marion, north face of Charvin, la Croix de l’Aiguille, descentes sur la Giettaz.... Trips are available subject to a minimum of 4 riders and for a minimum of 3 days.
CHAMPOLUC - GRESSONEY - ALAGNA
On the Italian side of the Monta Rosa range (Dufourspitze 4634m and Punta Gnifetti 4515m)
There are 3 parallel valleys with lifts, which take you up to a huge off piste area.
It is possible to get some superb heliskiing (it is banned in France but not Italy) probably amongst the best in the Alps. Land col du lys 4151m. Descend by the Gren and Gornier glaciers and arrive at 1672m above Zermatt in Switzerland.-return by téléphérique, down the glacier Breithorn, then into Gressoney.
Programme :
Meet Sunday at La Grave to collect equipment (avalanche safety backpack, skis or swallow snowboard)
Ride monday at La Grave (for us to check your ability!) Then to Gressoney in our VW minibus.
Ride Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday around Monte Rosa,
with a possible helicopter option if the weather allows. (additional 170 € per person per rotation)
Back on friday night.

| BACKCOUNTRY OISANS |
The first outings, at the beginning of winter, are day-trips. Not necessary to start early in the morning, because it stays cold all day. Between La Grave and the Briançon side of the mountains, there are numerous routes with between 600 and 1600 meters of vertical. Enough to keep everyone happy, from the thoughtful to the most demanding. It is a good time of year to take your first steps in rando, easy snow, a few sunbeams and a picnic to wkae up the poet in you! Later in the year, from about mid February, when the snow pack is more stable and predictable, high altitude glacier routes and steep slopes are often possible. We can use the skilifts at La Grave or Serre Chevalier to start a big day with long descents in the Ecrins mountains. At the beginning of April, the moutain huts are manned again. One night at the refuge du Promontoire for example, or a whole week of rando at altitude, can give you a route across the Ecrins. To finish the season, a trip to the Causasus with local guides to appreciate the snow and learn about "“katchachok”. |

BACKCOUNTRY TOUR DE LA MEIJE !
Date : 4th to 6th April.
Ski, snowboard or telemark. 4-person groups with one mountain- guide trip leader. A 3-day trip.
A very good technical level for the all the descents and experience of climbing back up are essential.
One day tour around La Grave for familiarisation (your technique and the use of equipment).
One night either at La Grave or at refuge de la selle.
2 days tour de La Meije with 1 night at the refuge de la promontoire, South face of La Meije.
There are several possible descents, Enfetchores, or the Tabuchet or L'Homme glacier, depending on conditions.
Price including mountain-guide € 250 assuming 4 people. The refuge is an additional € 35 per person for half-board.

SKI TOURING & SAILING IN NORWAY !
Booking for 2009 ! We organise since 2004 Dates : 11 to 25 April 2009 ( 2 weeks of 8 clients with 2 guides )
Fascinating ski touring country for all levels. A sea and mountain holiday above the Arctic Circle in the Lyngen Alps.
From the town of Tromso, we sail on the “Southern Star”, a boat with top accomodation Norwegian style.
We go into fjords, to access different routes each day.
The snow quality at this latitude (70° North) is excellent, often you will find virgin untraced slopes.
In Spring, the aurora borealis are frequent, a magnificent and unforgettable experience for nature lovers.
Trip Duration, one week from Saturday to Saturday.
- arrive at Tromso, board the Southern Star, a yacht of 27 metres with 5 2-Berth cabins, showers, dvd, super standard of fittings.
- Ski touring, snowboard or kite, whatever fits in with the group.
- Aft a night at anchor or in a small port, we kit up on the beach!
- Between 1000 and 1400 m vertical cross a glacier and board the yacht for our next destination.
- Lots of dolphins and Northern Lights always possible!
- The weather can be anything from powder snow, to spring snow to winter (-20°)
- The cost of the trip is €2500 per person, flights, yacht, food and guides.
- A weekend is planned to prepare the necessary for the trip and to answer specific questions.
