Since 1993, Snowlegend has been offering freeride ski, snowboard, touring & telemark classes.
Don't try to compare this resort to any other, La Grave is in a class of its own. In a remote corner of the Hautes Alps; Oisans is the largest mountain group in the Alps. At 3986 meters, La Meije may not be the highest peak, but it does have one of the longest vertical drops in the world: 2150 meters or 7100 feet and more !
Two lifts take you up to an altitude of 3550 meters. From there, the number of possible descents makes La Grave probably largest untamed, off-piste site in Europe. The combination of North and Northeast facing slopes and high altitude means that snow conditions are often deep powder and are excellent from Christmas to May.
The Snowlegend team is made up from UIAGM guides (International Union of Mountain Guide Associations) who have perfect knowledge of La Grave and the area- including its most challenging routes. La Grave is the
freeride mecca- we are always finding and testing new routes with more than 2300 metres of vertical!! You can look forward to some exciting times !

 • rendez-vous to Snowlegend chalet the day before at 5.30 to 7 pm or the morning at 8 to 9 am. • meeting with Snowlegend crew & Loan safety equipment. • possible to rent skis or snowboard for 15 euros with a preferantial price, normally is 25 or 30 euros • storage space reserved for clients where you can leave your skis or snowboard, boots and safety backpack. • free thermos of tea with different perfumes for hydration to ensure that you are in top form for perfect turns ! • Group departure of 3 to 7 riders at the opening time of the Meije telepherique. • Depending on weather conditions , different descents will be offered. • Snowlegend guiding ensures safety procedures, get plenty of free advice, and tips to improve your technique...! • Daily vertical drops from 5 to 10 000 meters . Pow pow, couloirs, forest .... 2 to 7 runs of Pure Bonheur !!! • Lunch at restaurant 3200 meters or Chancel Refuge 2508m. • Each telepherique ascent with a maximum of 6 persons is a perfect time to exchange our knowledge, laugh, relax, appreciate the fantastic panorama ! • every evening, we offer an aperitif Chartreuse. Since last 10 years, Snowlegend & François Sivardière one of the most experienced in the field in France and Europe have done snow and avalanche camp.
The idea is help you understand the nature of mountain snow pack, understand the reasons behind potential avalanche risks,
and be able to use specific techniques to minimise risks.
The most effective way to use your avalanche transceiver in the event of an accident is explained and demonstrated.
As an option, you can undertake a detailed study of the current snowpack, and do a simulated victim or multi-victim research.

The first outings, at the beginning of winter, are day-trips. Not necessary to start early in the morning, because it stays cold all day. Between La Grave and the Briançon side of the mountains, there are numerous routes with between 600 and 1600 meters of vertical. Enough to keep everyone happy, from the thoughtful to the most demanding. It is a good time of year to take your first steps in touring, easy snow, a few sunbeams and a picnic to wake up the poet in you! |
