Ski, Snowboard, ski & snow touring, Heliboarding, Snow-kite.
Mountain guide for 20 years, I love skiing, snowboarding, kite and rando. I stay adaptable in the mountains, and think that the ability to change easily between ski-snowboard-or rando gives the maximum pleasure, the most possibilities depending on the conditions and of course safety.
My skis have taken me across the Alps, and on great trips to the peaks of the planet. In 2006, Greenland in April, Chile and Argentina in September. In 2007, Turkey, China, Kirghizstan and Norway. In 2008 Chile and Argentina. In 2009, Turkey and New Zealand.

For pure pleasure on skis or snowboard and for the vertical drop, I find that La Grave, under the peak of La Meije, provides a great place to live, laugh and share the magic of the place- always staying alert to the dangers respecting the mountain.

Ski instructor, trainer and textile engineer. I am not a mountain guide, but I have led groups at La Grave for more than 18 years & I know a few good couloirs, forest runs and wide open spaces….
I was in the French ski team in world cup (moguls) from 1981-1985, world cup speed skiing 1986-1990 (my best 205 Km/hr !) and world cup telemark 1989-1995. I was the founder of the Derby de La Meije in 1989, and have since been one of the organisers of all Derbys. I have been a snowboarder as well for the last 25 years if the powder is good………
I love to ski or board with groups who like a good laugh. It is a real pleasure!

Winter in Briançon for the blue sky and quality of snow, the range of untouched slopes in the Ecrins range. Great descents on ski or snowboard in untouched mountains. Ski, ski touring.
I am a mountain guide, reporter and photographer. Above all, I love wide open spaces. I have found a flexible, personal and enjoyable organisation in Snowlegend which suits me well. The Ecrins mountain range is huge, and a bit my private retreat. I love exploring hidden corners in between photo assignments or expeditions to
the ends of the world! One of the pleasure which motivates me every morning is to see riders from all over Europe coming to discover the spots at La Grave and nearby. In particular when the group has a good bonding and smile!

Inoubliable! And keep relax.

Choice from the itinary
Depending on his level, the weather, positioning from slopes and quality of the snow :
Choosing his way according to the avalanche risks, never hesitate before going to ask professionals and even if necessary, to give up at the last moment. The right safety equipment ( beacon, probe & shovel ) is essential as is regular training for its handling.

Choice from the right material
Fat skis or swallows; width and length depends on the quality (heavy or light) and the quantity of powder snow.

A very large vision
You must be able to anticipate and determine the style to adopt so you are not surprised by the elements.

The breathing
Force your breathing out to go with your curve, manage also your potential with enough rest periods.

The arms' position
Arms must be pulled forward, shoulders above feet and contrary to the generally accepted idea, don’t put your weight backwards (loss of control:)

The placing
Avoid the big grips on edges, give greater importance to fluidity. With swallows the placing is done on the front foot; with fats, depending on the quantity & quality of snow, the distribution of the weight is done on the two skis.

No parasitical movements from the top of the body !
The only movement is the wrists one’s, that which actuates the ski pools. The top of the body must be totally relaxed, only the pelvis and the legs distribute the energy !

Shoulders have to face downhill
The shoulders indicate the course to be followed while the legs flow through the turns.

Skiing on surface
Normally, snow must not fly around your face : the width from the actual skis permits you not dive in the snow (the well known “ submarine effect).

The smile
A happy rider has more chance to ride well and to have fun.
