Freeriding Depuis 1993
Since 1993, Snowlegend International Freeride Camp in La Grave has been a pioneer in off-piste courses, offering its professional and friendly expertise at the foot of La Meije. In a commitment to quality, our organization has deliberately kept its size limited, with 12 UIAGM high-mountain guides, Leeloo managing the concept store, Didi organizing guided outings, Charly as ski technician, and Lara and Valentine for après-ski. At the Snowlegend concept store, freeride guiding services (in French, English, Spanish, and Italian) with a choice of 10 packages are available. Don’t forget to book in advance by filling out the registration form on the Snowlegend website or by email. Snowlegend customers benefit from a €5 discount per day on ski equipment rental. To make it easier to prepare your equipment, we recommend booking online. You can also leave your equipment in storage free of charge at the shop or take advantage of sharpening, waxing, and repair services at the workshop.
You’re going to have an incredible stay and discover the magical slopes of La Meije... Snowlegend is open from Christmas until the end of April, but it is strongly recommended that you book your session with a guide.
The Snowlegend team are passionate about freeride skiing and snowboarding and ski touring. Each has their own style, but they all share one value: professionalism, ensuring you are supervised in complete safety with a smile!
Meet at Snowlegend the day before from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. or in the morning from 8 a.m. to get to know the team. The guide will provide you with safety equipment free of charge: avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe, and harness. The ski technicians will adjust your ski equipment (if rented), so don’t hesitate to have them check your personal equipment (binding adjustments, etc.). Take advantage of this opportunity to get warm and enjoy a complimentary coffee. Leeloo or Didi will give you your ski passes, and the adventure begins.
You will set off with your guide to the cable car, located 40 meters from the Snowlegend concept store. Your daily elevation gain can be between 4 and 12,000 meters, depending on conditions and your physical fitness. Enjoy 2 to 7 runs of pure bliss! “Wide open spaces, trails, glaciers, couloirs, forests.” Throughout the day, your guide will choose the best locations for you, provide technical advice, and ensure your safety. Lunch break at Refuge Chancel (2,508 m), La Cabine (3,200 m), or La Grave (1,525 m). Pro tip: It is customary to invite your guide to lunch.
3650m: Take a breath and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Alps as you ride down the glacier! 3100m: Carve turns between rocky outcrops and glacier tongues! 2900m: Long couloirs and beautiful virgin slopes await you! Abseiling option available for the more adventurous. 2100m: Spot some chamois in the forest and ski through beautiful clearings! 1300/1400m: End of the day’s skiing between 4 and 5 p.m., return to the Snowlegend store for a debriefing of the day.
Return to Snowlegend: return safety equipment to the guide and ski rental equipment to the ski technicians. You can leave your equipment at the workshop for maintenance or in storage for the following days. Now it’s time to celebrate the day with a good craft beer, soft drinks, and organic fruit juice indoors or on the terrace facing La Meije. A friendly place where riders like to gather around the pool table for après-ski. The perfect time to discuss the next day’s program with your guide.
